Birth & Postpartum Doula | Logan | Brisbane | Gold Coast | Ipswich (QLD)
To answer this question in short, my answer would be, typically – yes!
However, unlike other Postpartum Doulas, I know firsthand the struggles that can arise beyond the newborn days, heck, my eldest is 4, and youngest is 20 months, at the time of writing, and there are days I wish I could hire in-home support as we’re facing some big challenges with her behaviour that, quite frankly, I just was not ready for! Everything from big emotional outbursts, the emotional dys-regulation (in both parent and child), potty training, night waking and minimal sleep to name a few!
But that’s how life works right? Often blindsided by the reality of the twists and turns life brings us!
Because I am acutely aware of the ever-growing need for mothers to be better supported well after the newborn phase, you’ll find my services states that I am more than happy to provide postpartum support until around the 18 month mark. However if you get to the 2, 3, 4 (+) year mark and you begin to feel like you’re drowning in motherhood I would be more than happy to journey alongside you to help you navigate the challenges that children (and life!) can bring!
Now, I don’t claim to be an expert at anything! I am still learning every single day, and growing as a person, a mother and a wife; but there is still so much practical support I can offer to help you to create a practical plan that will see you thriving not just merely surviving!
- You’re struggling with navigating a work/life balance
- You’re a single mum needing support (as well as care, nurturing and maybe even some pampering!)
- You’re struggling with postpartum depression and/or anxiety and need additional support to cope with day-to-day life
- You need some emotional support to cope with certain challenges
- Your child’s sleep needs are changing and you feel like you’re heading towards burnout
- You’re struggling to keep up with everyday household chores and you’d like to use the time you have to rest and spend time with your family
- You’ve just introduced a new baby into the family and you’d like support for your older children as they adjust to this big transition
How I can support you after the newborn phase?
- Provide continued emotional support to the whole family unit
- Provide insight into the various childhood developmental phases
- Help you get linked in to community support groups and to professionals
- Sleep support
- Sibling adjustments
- Promote self-care practices
- Support family mental health
So if you would like some practical, in-home support, please get in touch and we can chat about how I can help you start enjoying this precious time you have with your beautiful children.
Hi my name is Sammi Papadam, and I am a birth and postpartum doula! I have worked with women and newborns for many years in the nursing industry until recently when I pivoted in my career to actually ‘be with’ and work ‘for women’ as a doula as this is something I wasn’t able to do properly as a nurse due to time constraints etc. I have completed training with Julia Jones from Newborn Mothers and am undergoing training Vicki Hobbs from the Doula Training Academy, as I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of birth physiology and postpartum care for newborn families. I’m also a qualified First Aid Trainer and Assessor and offer this unique offering in most of my packages.
If you would like to talk more about your birthing options, or First Aid training, please book a consultation with me below.
